Jury and Student Film Competition of BiH FILM Programme Selected

The Association of Filmmakers in Bosnia and Herzegovina is finalizing the preparations for the programme of the BiH Film Festival, which is taking place in cooperation with the Sarajevo Film Festival, from August 14 to August 22. This year marks the ten year anniversary of the festival dedicated to the promotion of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian cinematography and film authors from B&H.

One of the programs that are taking place this year is the Student Program competition, which for the fourth year in a row awards three distinct prizes: Prize for the Best Bosnian-Herzegovinian Student Film, Special Prize of the Jury and Special Jury Mention.

Which three films will win the awards in the student film selection at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival will be decided by director Mirna Dizdarević, producer Adis Đapo and director Mladen Đukić.

Mirna Dizdarević holds a degree in film directing at the Sarajevo Film Academy. Her film ISKUPLJENJE won the Prize for the Best Student Film at last year’s BH Film Festival, after which it was shown at many other film festivals. Adis Đapo is a film producer from Sarajevo who was the executive producer of a number of films including DJECA (Aida Begić), EPIZODA U ŽIVOTU BERAČA ŽELJEZA (Danis Tanović), as well as the producer of SA MAMOM (Faruk Lončarević). Mladen Đukić teaches Animated Film at the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka. He is also the owner of the Aeon production house. Mladen’s master thesis film THE LAST LOOK will have its premiere at this year’s BiH Film Festival.

The competition selection of this year’s Student Program includes 14 films from four film academies:

Not participating in the competition program, another 10 films by the Film Factory masters and doctoral students will be shown. The BH Film Festival Student Program became the most important platform for the promotion of student films by Bosnian-Herzegovinian film schools, and the awards given to the students have served as the launching pad for further festival life and success of their films, as well as a stimulus for further professional work.

Within this program, the The Association of Filmmakers in Bosnia and Herzegovina will show all produced professional films made during the last year, and after each screening there will be a meet and greet with their authors. During the Festival, the Association will award its annual “Ivica Matić” Awards to notable film workers, as well as organize a series of other film meetings.
