European Shorts 2019
Films in the European Shorts section compete alongside the regional Competition Shorts for an EFA (European Film Academy) candidacy and, as of this year, also stand a chance to qualify for an Academy Award (Oscar®) nomination.
This year, the European Shorts section of the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival boasts 13 films hailing from 10 European countries. The section unites filmmakers from France, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Spain, the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland and Kosovo*, divided into three thematic sections, yet all sharing that which the European Shorts section is proud to stand for: a vision that seeks to expand the cinematic language, coupled with the courage to explore difficult truths on how we function both within ourselves, and as daytime actors in society's theatre of survival.
