The Briton Jeremy Irons has had an extraordinary international career and has played in some seventy films. He has won numerous film awards, including an Oscar for his role as Claus von Bulow in Reversal of Fortune, for which he also won the Golden Globe. Jeremy Irons was born on the Isle of Wright on 19 September 1948. After the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, he joined the Bristol Old Vic Theatre Company, where he played a series of notable roles. His first major role was in 1972, in the London production of Godspell. The role in this play brought him the status of a distinguished actor of the London theatre.
