Adriatic Film & TV Awards: Submissions Open for the 2026 AFA Awards

Eligible for submission are rights holders of feature and documentary films, as well as high-end television series (including drama series and sitcoms)

The call for submissions is now open for films and television series for the Adriatic Film & TV Awards – 2026 AFA Awards, a regional accolade celebrating the most significant film and television achievements from across the former Yugoslavia for the 2025/2026 season.

More than 600 film professionals from across the region, members of the Film and TV Academy of the Adriatic Region, will vote in two rounds: first to determine the nominees, and then to select the winners. The Academy was initiated by the founders of the Network of Festivals of the Adriatic Region: Sarajevo Film Festival, Belgrade Auteur Film Festival and Zagreb Film Festival.

Eligible for submission are rights holders of feature and documentary films, as well as high-end television series (including drama series and sitcoms).

To qualify, films must have had a theatrical release between 1 July 2025 and 1 June 2026. Producers must be from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo*, North Macedonia, Slovenia or Serbia, and submissions may be made exclusively by the producer or rights holder.

To qualify, TV series must have been broadcast between 1 July 2025 and 1 June 2026. Producers or broadcasters must be from the above-mentioned countries, and all episodes of the submitted series must be made available to Academy members for consideration. If two seasons of the same series were broadcast during the stated period, only one season may be submitted, at the discretion of the producer or rights holder.

Submissions are open until 11:59 pm on 10 June 2026.

A total of ten AFA Awards will be presented. In the film categories, seven awards will be given: Best Film (to producer and director), Best Actress, Best Actor, Rising Star (in a cross-category with TV drama), Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Debut Film. In the TV series category, three awards will be presented: Best Series, Best Actress, and Best Actor.

The 2026 AFA Awards ceremony will take place from 23 to 25 October at Porto Montenegro in Tivat, Montenegro, the event’s main partner. The inaugural AFA Awards ceremony was also held at the same venue in 2025.
