BRIDES Before the Sarajevo Audience
BRIDES, a Georgian film, screened at the National Theatre on the sixth day of the Sarajevo Film Festival. BRIDES is a feature film by Tinatin Kajrishvili and it is in competition in our Competition Programme - Features.
The film tells the story of a seamstress Nutsa who marries Goga, the father of her children. The ceremony is brief; both of them just give their signature and then she has to leave. Goga is in prison, where he will remain for another six years. One day Goga phones Nutsa with the news that there's a change in the prison's rules: married inmates are now allowed to have their spouses stay overnight. Nutsa puts on the dress she wore on their first date. But Nutsa and Goga feel awkward with this sudden intimacy.
Tinatin Kajrishvili was born in Tbilsi, Georgia, in 1978. She graduated from the State University in Georgia in 2011. BRIDES is the first feature film she has produced and directed.
