SFF Guests Present: WITHERING by Miloš Pušić and ADRIA BLUES by Miroslav Mandić

The 19th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival continues to expand on its selection of programmes and activities in support of regional cinematography. This year, in cooperation with the Megacom Film and Continental Film distribution companies, we present two very appealing films as part of the SFF Guests Present programme.

This new program of the Sarajevo Film Festival was initiated in order to contribute to the development of better distribution for the most appealing regional films and with the aim of establishing itself in the coming years as the best platform for launching a broader distribution of commercial titles from the Balkans, with a special emphasis on their media promotion.

In the first year of the programme, the audience at the 19th Sarajevo Film Festival will have the opportunity to watch two films which had their world premier as part of the East of the West programme at Karlovy Vary IFF.

Megacom Film presents a drama entitled WITHERING, by the young director Miloš Pušić from Novi Sad, featuring Branislav Trifunović, Boris Isaković, Dara Džokić, Jasna Đuričić and the celebrated Bosnian-Herzegovinian actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović. Recently, at the Festival in Herceg Novi, Dara Džokićwas awarded the Gold Mimosa for Best Actress.

Miloš Pušićhas stated the following about his film: "I have always been interested in the subject of people who have been forgotten by the society and the government. People living at the edges of society forget each other and often forget themselves. There are a lot of people like this in Serbia and Withering is a film about them, as well as about difficult subjects and taboo topics in Serbian society.”

WITHERING will premiere at the 19thSFF, at the Cinema City mulitiplex, on 18 August, at 5.30 PM. After the screening, the entire film crew will present themselves to the audience and there will be a brief Q&A session with the main actors.

As part of the SFF Guests Present programme, Continental Film presents a new film by Bosnian-Herzegovinian director Miroslav Ćiro Mandić: ADRIA BLUES. A social drama about great people from a forgotten time features another celebrated Bosnian-Herzegovinian actor Senad Bašić in the main role, as well as Mojca Funkl, Peter Musevski and Gregor Zorc, and will be screened three times at the Festival. It will premiere at the Cinema City multiplex, on 20 August, at 5.30 PM. The film crew will address the audience briefly after the screening. Further screenings will be held at the Novi Grad Open Air cinema, on 21 August, at 9.45 PM and again at the Cinema City multiplex, on 22 August, at 9.15 PM as part of the BH Film programme.

Director Miroslav Mandić describes his film in the following manner: “There are many victims of war that no one talks about; people who were appalled at what was going on around them and who abandoned any kind of creative or important work they had been involved in before the war. Through the story of a post-war rock musician who has lost his motivation, this film aims to speak about these people and in their name.”

Tickets for WITHERING and ADRIA BLUES can be purchased at the Sarajevo Film Festival Main Box Office, located again this year in the Bosnian Cultural Centre, or they can be purchased on the day of the screening at the cinema where the screening is taking place.
