THE HIGH SUN Opened the Feature Film Competition Programme

On Saturday (15 August), THE HIGH SUN, the most recent film directed by Dalibor Matanić, was screened as part of the Competition Programme - Feature Film

THE HIGH SUN is a film about the dangers, but also about the power of forbidden love. The story that spans three decades is set in two neighboring villages burdened by a long history of conflict, tensions and intolerance.

Dalibor Matanić was born in 1975 in Zagreb, Croatia. Matanić graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. He completed screenwriting, production and documentary filmmaking seminars at the Imaginary Academy in Groznjan and moved on to attend screenwriting workshops in the United States. He directed nine feature films, five shorts and several documentaries. His latest feature THE HIGH SUN screened in the Un Certain Regard program at the 68th Cannes Film Festival where it was awarded the Jury Prize. Matanić received numerous awards for his work, including Golden Arena Award of the Pula Film Festival, Croatian Actors’ Guild award for the best director, Vecernjak’s Rose Award for the best feature and five Croatian Critics’ Octavian Awards for best film. Matanić is a member of the European Film Academy.

Screening of THE HIGH SUN started at the Sarajevo National Theatre at 20:00.
