In Focus Programme Opened with THE DISOBEDIENT

As always, In Focus brings us the best works of regional cinematography from the past year. These extraordinary films have found success at prestigious film festivals around the world or on the domestic market.

The In Focus programme opened with THE DISOBEDIENT by the Serbian director Mina Đukić.

THE DISOBEDIENT tells the story of Leni and Lazar who were best friends in childhood. When Lazar returns from extensive travels abroad for his father's funeral, Leni yearns to reconnect with her childhood soul mate but still feels the sting of their years of estrangement. Nevertheless, hoping to escape the doldrums of adult life, Leni embarks with Lazar on an impromptu bicycle trip across a gorgeous, sunbaked landscape.

Mina Đukić was born in Sombor, in 1982. In January 2008, together with her colleagues Nikola Ležaić and Uroš Tomić, she founded the film company Kiselo dete.

THE DISOBEDIENT, her first feature film, premiered in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
