Two Premiers Tonight at the National Theatre
Again on Thursday night, the Competition Programme – Feature Film will offer two premiers to the Festival audience.
The Georgian film IN BLOOM, by Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Groß, will be screened first at 8 pm.
The film takes place in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, a newly independent state after the fall of the Soviet Union. The country is facing violence, war on the Black Sea coast (in Abkhazia) and the vigilante justice that plagues society.
The Greek film, RUNAWAY DAY, by Dimitris Bavellas, will be screened at 10.30 pm, following IN BLOOM.
The film follows Maria and Loukas who have decided to run away from home. Each of them has to deal with their own personal problems: Maria is stuck in a marriage with the wealthy Dimitris, raising their two children, while Loukas is unemployed and in debt.
