Speaking about the inspiration for the script, Elma Tataragić revealed that the story began back in 2015, when they were doing a comic advertising campaign "Then we thought it would be good to start a story of ours. We were waiting for better times for that scenario, and we're glad we won the competition in the end."

She also mentioned that they had Alen Muratović in mind from the very beginning and that he was the only actor they were sure of.

Enes Zlatar added that he has known certain members of the team since elementary school and that this greatly helped the creation of the series.

Actress Nadine Micić talked about what it was like to play an American woman adjusting to life in Bosnia "I started with stereotypes and our understanding of Americans. Kate, who I play, desperately wants to be accepted and blend in with her surroundings. I also realized that I can hear languages quite well, so this American accent was not difficult for me at all."

She also discovered that Kate takes on a lot of Jalija speech in the second season.

As there are characters in the series very similar to characters from our public life, Elma Tataragić said that some of them not only recognized themselves, but also reacted to it, such as Božo Vrećo and Laka.

“Each of us is a bit funny and that's wonderful. Of course, these similarities were intentional, and all the jokes were shared. We can't even remember who came up with which line" said Tataragić, while Enes Zlatar added that not a single fight broke out on the set.

At the same time, Alen Muratović got a role for the series SMASHING IT and for the series THE HOLLOW, so he commented on the transition from one genre to another "I think it is ideal for actors to move from comedy to other genres. My approach is always the same, even though the means are different, but I love that way of coping."

Screenwriter Elma Tataragić concluded that the sitcom format is very important for the Bosnian market and that she would like to see more creation and experimentation in that format.

The first season of the series SMASHING IT won as many as three Hearts of Sarajevo for TV series at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival. Elma Tataragić, Enes Zlatar and Dušan Branić won the best comedy script category, Alen Muratović was awarded the best actor in the comedy category, and the series itself was declared the best comedy.
