As a gift to the audience, the day before the official opening of the festival, on Thursday, August 10th, the Sarajevo Film Festival, in cooperation with the Film Center Sarajevo, presented a surprise film: a newly restored classic of the Sarajevo Film Center, a jewel of BH cinematography!
The Film Center Sarajevo is a public enterprise whose mission is to preserve the tradition and heritage of cinematography. The founder and assembly of "The Film Center Sarajevo" is the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Film Center Sarajevo has a collection of 90 feature films and more than 500 documentaries and short films. The Archive of the Film Center is home to films produced by Bosna Film, Studio Film and Sutjeska Film in the former Yugoslavia. Some of them are of great importance for the cinematography of Bosnia and Herzegovina and have achieved significant success at international festivals (SJEĆAŠ LI SE DOLLY BELL? by Emir Kusturica, VALTER BRANI SARAJEVO by Hajrudin Šiba Krvavac, BITKA NA NERETVI by Veljko Bulajić, CRNI BISERI by Tom Janjić).
The Film Center Sarajevo is dedicated to preserving and restoring them in order to bring them closer to the modern viewer.
The 29th Sarajevo Film Festival will open on Friday, August 11th with the film KISS THE FUTURE by Nenad Čičin-Šain.
