"Death in Sarajevo" by Danis Tanović Wins the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at Berlinale

Danis Tanović's drama DEATH IN SARAJEVO won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize of the 66th International Berlin Film Festival.

Tanovic was presented with the prize at the awards ceremony on Saturday evening.

This year's festival winners were chosen by a jury headed by actress Meryl Streep and comprising actor Lars Eidinger, film critic Nick James, photographer Brigitte Lacombe, actor Clive Owen, actress Alba Rohrwacher and film director Malgorzata Szumowska.

Earlier on Saturday Tanovic also received the FIPRESCI prize, awarded by the juries of the International Film Critics Association.

DEATH IN SARAJEVO was produced by the SCCA/pro.ba production house from Sarajevo and Margo Cinema from Paris.


The cast of the film includes Snezana Vidović, Izudin Bajrović, Vedrana Seksan, Muhamed Hadžović, Faketa Salihbegović-Avdagić and the French acting legend Jacques Weber.
