Ceasefire now! Release all hostages now!

We as film festival organisers can and should be vocal against all forms of war, violence and human rights abuses and our strongest weapon is our programme

We mourn all the innocent victims, Palestinian and Israeli. There is no military solution, only a political one. End the occupation and end terrorism! Peace must be sought as feeble as the chances for it are at the moment. Ceasefire must come now! Hostages must return home!

Here in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Balkan region this war has already had grave implications as many of our diverse, but war traumatised and otherwise fragile societies perceive it through the prism of the divisions within them. This is a dangerous path as we are plunging into new culture wars and witness unprecedented raises in Antisemitism and Islamophobia that will sadly stay with us for a long time.

We as film festival organisers can and should be vocal against all forms of war, violence and human rights abuses and our strongest weapon is our programme. Role of film festivals in these difficult times is to help deepen the understanding of the underlying issues behind the state of our societies by showing different perspectives, bringing people together and providing a space for deeper reflection. Sarajevo Film Festival will continue doing just so!
