Special Screening of CALVARY

The screening of CALVARY took place on Thursday (21 August) at Multiplex Cinema City, at 15:00. This is the most recent film by director John Michael McDonagh and it presents the life of Father James.

One day in confession, an unseen man tells James that he's going to kill him precisely because he's done nothing wrong. Given a week to make his peace with God, James ministers to sundry lost souls—visits hat double as a guided tour of suspects. His preparation for death is further complicated by the arrival of his daughter, who has recently attempted suicide.

John Michael McDonagh was born in London in 1967. He wrote a screenplay about the Australian outlaw Ned Kelly that was filmed in 2003 with Heath Ledger in the leading role. THE GUARD marked his debut as a feature film director, won the Honourable Mention for Best Debut Film at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival and was nominated for a Golden Globe.
